Some people feel shame about their divorce. You’d think in this day and age where 40-50% of marriages end in divorce, there would no longer be any shame attached to it. But it still exists.

Dr. David Hawkins in his 1995 book, Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior, identifies the 17 vibrational levels on which we as humans can exist. His book proclaims the highest level to be enlightenment; the lowest is shame.

When we exist in a place of shame, we can achieve nothing worthwhile. Our personal growth is at a standstill. We can’t help anyone else. We are consumed by our shame. We can’t work, can’t parent, can’t love. It is the single most negative place there is.

The sooner you can move out of this place of shame, the sooner you will be able to start on your healing journey. But you absolutely can not make any progress whatsoever while you are vibrating on the level of shame.

So starting right now, assure yourself that there is no shame in your situation. Put whatever guilt you are feeling aside. Meditation can help. By sitting quietly with yourself, you can learn to turn your shame into self-love.
