I just got back from vacation, and boy do I feel the difference a couple of weeks off can make! I’m rested, relaxed, rejuvenated. Ready to take the bull by the horns again.

I’m not trying to rub it in. I realize you’re in no position to take a 2-week vacation. You’re in the throes of divorce. You’re trying to figure out how to be a single parent, how to juggle work and parenting and appointments with your lawyer, law guardian, forensic psychologist, therapist, plus all the court dates. You certainly don’t have time for a vacation. But you’ve never needed one more.

So take a mini vacation.

Draw yourself a hot bath and add some epsom salt or bubble bath. Light some candles. Play some music. Use a loofah.

If baths aren’t your thing, you could go to a museum. Or take a hike on a nature trail. Or grab a sketch pad and go sit somewhere beautiful and draw.

You don’t have to go away to be on vacation. It’s pretty much a state of mind. And you can always carve out an hour to soothe your soul. So be creative, and enjoy. You need a break, and it’s okay to indulge in something that’s just for you. In fact, it’s necessary. It will help you handle everything else.

The important thing is to take care of yourself. No, I take that back. The important thing is to PAMPER yourself. You’re going through something really difficult, and you need (DESERVE!) some major pampering. So take advantage of any downtime you can find, and do something you love.
